Ready to crawl?

"Crawling is too much effort Mom, how about I shake my head and call the toy towards me?"

Five days of staycation!!!

Aarush had 5 good days of Staycation for this thanksgiving and our agenda had only fun items: waking up late, eat, play, nap, play some more and learn some new skills and that was exactly what we did those 5 days.
Aarush's sleep pattern is getting better and his doc wanted me to stop night feedings as he is big enough to hold it. I had planned to practice it over the weekend but he developed cold and thought I wouldn't do it. The smart boy that Aarush is sensed his mom's intentions and slept through the night on Saturday, finally!!! but it could be because he was co-sleeping with me?although he slept through the night I woke up atleast thrice to see if he's okay, damn those habits die hard!
Talking about cold and winters, whenever I see kids with chapped lips and skin, I decide on their parents to be very irresponsible and lazy but realized, though you empty bottles of baby lotion some things you can't help. I applied petroleum jelly almost every hour on Aarush's cute little chapped red cheeks and they are getting better, poor guy didn't fuss a bit even with cold and cough.
What is a long weekend if you don't get to see your baby display some new skills, and yes he learned to sleep through the night ( again a very smooth transition for mom ), roll over and fall asleep on tummy(been doing this for a while now), bang his head repeatedly to test the strength of floor and here's the big thing he learned to kiss mommy, it may be he's trying to eat it( considering all the other things I give him to play would go straight into his mouth) or may be some love for mommy but whatever it is 'I am one proud Mamma:)'

Happy 6'th month Birthday Aarush!

Aarush turned 6 months 'young' yesterday. I consider 6months a milestone and thought of writing down the progress we made in the journey so far,

I am doing okay managing a baby, home and job.(Yay to that!)

My patience levels increased dramatically

I couldn't breastfeed my baby for more than 5.5 months.

I didn’t yet get to sleep for 6 hours @ a stretch, max is 4 hrs

I now have a human being depending on me :)

I think I can claim to be an expert at diaper changing [I’ve had enough of splashes to get till here ;)]

We don’t use alarms anymore

Aarush is a low-maintenance baby(Thank god for that!)

Aarush had the smoothest transition from home->daycare

I still want to retire and be a stay-home-mom by choice!

I get a comfort/assurance feeling when Aarush responds exactly the same way to his daycare lady as he does to me.

The smile my guy throws when I go pick him up from daycare is priceless

I don’t compare Aarush with other kids(makes me not to worry when he hits a milestone too early or a little late)

I feel a secret pride when I look at my baby.

I want to make every effort to raise Aarush the way our parents did.

I love being a MOM and look forward to the day my baby thinks 'his Mom is the greatest ;);)'

Aarush is a blessing and I pray for my family's well being 24/7.

Here's to 6 months of new life & motherhood!

Annaprasana

We did Aarush's annaprasana on the 6'th day of his 6'th month which fell on Oct 25' 2009. We had a good time and were curious to find out what Aarush would pick which hints on what he would become when he grows up, ya somethings are silly but fun to follow.
He had no problem tasting paramanam and had been really cooperative throughtout the day inspite of his first 'boo-boo'. Coming to the fun part where he had to choose 3 items from the all things I put before him. Here's what I put:

Books, Stethoscope, Laptop, Mobile phone, Gold, Silver, Money, God, Knife, Screwdriver( How about a Mechanic;)) Pens and some toys.

He held the gold plate first then Stethoscope and finally books . It ofcourse was a little manipulative as Aarush does not crawl yet and picks up anything in the nearest proximity but then it was fun watching him see and pick things .

Boy oh boy!!!

Last night I was getting Aarush ready for his bath and left him on the bed for exactly a minute to set up his tub and there was Mr.Big Guy rolling all over the bed in 360°, had I not come just in time he would have fallen off the bed. Is this the next stage already?, of keeping an eye on your baby wherever he is, whatever he does.
